MS Access' big brother, SQL Server, is an industry standard enterprise database system. When the quantity of data exceeds Access' limit of 2Gb or when the number of users often exceeds 15, SQL is the cost-effective database upgrade chosen by many IT managers. Unlike Access, SQL Server doesn't provide an application designer. It's optimised for data processing but the client must access the data from a different application.
